Need Ansys fluent MHD help setting up model

Job ID: 33626408

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

I am a graduate student using the student edition of Ansys. I am trying to model a low magnetic Reynolds number flow, a Hartmann flow. My geometry is an open channel, in this case, I am using a half-cylinder. The other option is to use a full cylinder but only half full of flowing fluid. I have set up the model but when I run the simulation, I am not getting the results I expect from hand calculations. I'll outline the parameters here: This is a viscous laminar flow of an electrically conductive fluid. The channel is 10m wide and 50 m long and is an open channel exposed to air. The walls are composed of, poorly electricity-conducting solid (0.001 S/m) with a density of 2.8g/cm^3. The fluid is the same density but with a higher conductivity of 1 S/m. The imposed field is from the earth, so it is a DC field with a strength of 0.00005 T and in this case only in the B0_y direction.
When I run the model I am expecting there to be an induced field in the flow direction (Bx) however the results show no induced field at all. More precisely the induced field should take the shape of the velocity profile.
I am hoping to find someone who can review my model setup and make sure it is set up correctly. I have not had much experience with ANSYS or any other modeling software, all of which are self-taught. Therefore, I am keener on having someone explain the proper setup than just solving the problem for me.
