Finite Element Modeling of Tire-Terrain interaction

Job ID: 32561696

Budget: ₹1,500 – ₹12,500 INR

This is basically a Modeling and Simulation based project. The off-road vehicle dynamics is affected either by the surficial features acting as impediments or by the non-conducive nature of the sub-surface soil. The co-existence of mutually contradicting parameters like ride performance, safety, traction, fuel efficiency and tire durability makes the study of terramechanics more critical from designer's viewpoint. These challenges can be effectively tackled by Finite element Analysis based simulation.
The project is focused on development of simulation based models for studying terrain-vehicle interaction. The project aims to explore the stresses, sinkage and other contact parameters by using FEA simulation of tire and road contact patch.

Methodology:

1. The complete geometry of tire and soils to be developed in Solidworks software. The tire model should be complete in all respects including tread
2. Material to be assigned and suitable models like Hyperelasicity models for tyres and Geo-mechanical models for soil are to be selected for soil and tyre
3. Simulation is to be carried out using dynamic non-linear analyses in either Ansys Workbench or Abaqus
4. The project deliverables should be in the form of simulation results, graphs generated, animation of simulation
