Utility-Scale Solar PV Project Development

Project Overview
We are developing a South African renewable energy company with a solar-first strategy, starting in Limpopo Province and scaling nationally to reach approximately 75% coverage of South Africa’s electricity demand influence through multi-province operations.
The company will initially deploy utility-scale and commercial solar PV projects, with optional battery storage, while maintaining a structured roadmap to integrate gas-fired peaking power and green hydrogen in later phases (post-Year 5), without delaying early deployment.
Phase 1 – Anchor Project (Limpopo | Solar Only)
Develop 50–150 MW utility-scale solar PV projects and commercial & industrial (C&I) solar installations.
Secure private Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and wheeling arrangements.
Conduct grid-connection studies, environmental approvals, and financial modeling.
Design projects to be future-ready for hybridization (storage, gas, hydrogen).
Phase 2 – National Replication (Years 1–5)
Replicate the Limpopo model across high-demand provinces (Gauteng, Northern Cape, Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Free State, Mpumalanga).
Use a hub-and-spoke SPV structure to scale rapidly while managing risk.
Target 1.5–2 GW solar capacity within 5 years.
Phase 3 – Energy Diversification (Post-Year 5)
Integrate gas-based peaking generation for grid stability.
Pilot green hydrogen production using surplus renewable energy, primarily for industrial and export markets.
Scope of Work for the Project Developer
The appointed Project Developer will be responsible for:
Developing a bankable, investor-ready business plan (technical, financial, regulatory).
Defining site layouts, capacity phasing, and grid integration strategy.
Producing a 3D project model with performance simulation, including:
Solar plant layout and energy yield
Grid interaction scenarios
Expansion simulations (storage, gas, hydrogen readiness)
Supporting early-stage investor and stakeholder engagement.
Key Outcome
A fully developed business plan supported by engineering-grade 3D visualizations and simulations, enabling rapid progression to financing, permitting, and construction.
