Stock theft and counterfeiting in 1934 New York

I need to know how you went about buying and selling both real and counterfeit stocks in 1934—the physical details. I assume one went to a stock broker. I also assume there were different kinds and sizes of brokerage houses. Where were the brokers? What was the interior of the office like? How did one redeem a stock, real or phony? Those are the kinds of questions I have. I have attached three articles from the NY Times describing the real crimes that my fictional ones will be based on.
