Ongoing University Accounting Support Needed -- 2
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I am looking to build a long-term relationship with an accountant who understands the nuances of higher-education finance. This is not a one-off task; I need a dependable professional who can step in each month, learn our existing workflows, and keep everything compliant and transparent for internal and external stakeholders.
Key expectations
• Maintain and reconcile ledgers on a recurring schedule
• Prepare monthly and quarterly reports that meet higher-ed standards (FASB/GASB)
• Coordinate smoothly with our student information and ERP systems—Banner, PeopleSoft, or similar—ensuring figures match what ends up in QuickBooks or SAP
• Flag irregularities early and suggest process improvements so audits never become fire drills
Because some of our accounting touches restricted funds and tuition revenue, experience with grant rules, federal aid, or student billing is a plus. If another tool is your specialty (e.g., Sage Intacct, Excel power-queries), let me know—flexibility is welcome as long as the data reconciles perfectly.
Please tell me how you would structure the first 90 days, what software you are most comfortable with, and how you normally report progress.
