FIRE Calculator Design & Troubleshooting
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I'm currently working on a Financial Independence Retire Early (FIRE) calculator and need some help with the withdrawal logic based on specific age ranges and account types. This model has been quite a challenge for me, and while I’ve managed to progress with the help of various chatbots, I've hit a roadblock.
My goal is to show withdrawals from each account in a specific order depending on the age and then calculate the surplus or shortfall for each year. Despite my efforts and detailed prompts, the formulas generated have not worked as expected, so I'm seeking support from experienced users.
Here’s the withdrawal order I’m aiming for:
Ages 36-42: Brokerage Dividends only.
Ages 43-59: Pension, Brokerage Dividends, and Taxable Brokerage.
Ages 60+: Pension, Dividends, Traditional IRA, Roth 401K, Roth IRA, and Taxable Brokerage.
The total withdrawal amount should equal the projected spending (starting in R37). The Surplus/Shortage Column (starting in S37) should:
Reflect a shortage as a negative number if I need to spend more than the accounts can fund.
Reflect a surplus if the accounts produce more than the spending need.
If you can’t help with this specific issue, I’d appreciate if anyone could identify any glaring errors that I might need to correct. Up to this point, I've relied on chatbots to verify the logic, and any expert review would be very helpful.
Willing to pay extra if you can add estimated taxes for draw downs, add toggle buttons, or make it a little more interactive
Thank you in advance for your support!
