About Us
Respira Botanicals is a startup herbal wellness brand launching with organic teas. We plan to sell through Amazon FBA and Shopify, with plans to expand into additional products and channels (aromatherapy, essential oils and more).
We’re looking for an experienced Accounting & Finance Manager who understands the unique challenges of e-commerce brands and can serve as both a hands-on bookkeeper and an advisor on financial strategy. This is a part-time contract role (~10 hrs/month to start) with the potential to scale as we grow.
Responsibilities
Bookkeeping & Accounting
Manage books in QuickBooks Online.
Use A2X (or Link My Books) to reconcile Amazon and Shopify payouts.
Record COGS and landed costs (product, freight, duties, packaging).
Categorize expenses accurately (ads, freelancers, software, FBA fees, etc.).
Reconcile bank and credit card accounts weekly.
Close books monthly (by 5th business day).
Prepare accurate P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow reports.
Handle basic invoicing and accounts payable/receivable.
Financial Management & Process Improvement
Assess current financial processes and protocols; recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and cost effectiveness.
Implement SOPs for recurring finance tasks (payout reconciliation, monthly close, expense categorization).
Develop budgeting and forecasting models to support growth decisions.
Provide insights on ad spend ROI, inventory cash flow, and gross margins.
Tax Planning & Compliance
Manage sales tax reconciliation (Amazon Marketplace Facilitator, Shopify Tax).
Collaborate with CPA on quarterly reviews and year-end filing.
Advise on tax incentive maximization and deductions, ensuring compliance.
Keep us informed on what expenses can be legally deducted and how to structure costs.
Advisory
Help owners understand financial reports in plain English.
Support decision-making on product expansion, ad budgets, and pricing strategy.
Provide recommendations for sustainable scaling (when to reinvest vs. draw profit).
Qualifications
Strong background in accounting/finance, preferably with CPA, ACCA, or equivalent experience.
Proven experience with Amazon/Shopify brands.
Hands-on knowledge of QuickBooks Online + A2X (or similar connectors).
Familiarity with e-commerce KPIs (MER, ROAS, CAC, IPI, etc.).
Understanding of inventory management, landed costs, and FBA fees.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
Skilled in tax preparation, planning, and incentive/deduction strategies.
Detail-oriented, proactive, and a strong communicator.
Compensation
Flat monthly retainer (based on experience and scope).
Potential for performance-based incentives as sales grow.
Long-term role with opportunity to scale into a fractional CFO position as the company expands.
