Video Editing for Cooking Channel Pilot

Job ID: 40470571

Budget: £250 – £750 GBP

Fee: £450 fixed for the pilot edit (one 8–12 minute video). Editors may alternatively quote a day rate. Successful pilot leads to ongoing per-video collaboration at agreed rate.

About the channel is a Nigerian-adjacent food channel fronted by a Great Taste award-winning cook whose quick-mix products (puff puff, buns, jollof sauce) are sold alongside the channel. We're in early stages. The audience is the UK African diaspora primarily, with Nigerians globally and cross-cultural curious cooks secondary. Her positioning is wholesome Nigerian cooking that supports a healthier lifestyle without sacrificing flavour, woven in with her own weight-loss journey through diet alone.

The job
We're commissioning one paid pilot edit of a full episode from existing footage. If both parties are happy, it will lead to ongoing work, a few videos per month, with the pilot effectively setting the style guide for everything that follows.

Style direction
Pick Up Limes is the structural reference. Voiceover layering against ambient sound, good use of b-roll that breathes, motion graphics used for ingredient callouts and quantities rather than constant text on screen, music sitting under the voice rather than over it. The aesthetic is not PUL itself; Eunice's voice is warm, and personality-led, so the edit needs to support her presence rather than impose a clinical or minimalist tone. Reference videos will be shared on brief.

Technical setup
Final Cut Pro is strongly preferred.

DaVinci Resolve accepted as a fallback. Premiere not accepted.
FCP path (preferred): Work in proxies supplied. Deliver the FCP library/project file, any motion graphics or assets you created as separate files, plus a low-res reference export of the cut.
Resolve path (accepted fallback): We will send you the original 4K 4:2:2 10-bit footage rather than proxies — use Resolve's Optimized Media for performance on your end. Deliver the Resolve project file plus an FCPXML export referencing the original media, all motion graphics, titles, lower thirds, and custom effects exported as separate ProRes 4444 files with alpha channels (do not bake graphics into the timeline — FCPXML will not carry them across reliably), plus a low-res reference export of the cut.

You'll be a great fit if
You've edited food, lifestyle, or cooking content for YouTube before. You watch and understand channels like Pick Up Limes. You work natively in FCP or DaVinci Resolve

How to apply
Send a short message with three things: a link to your most relevant edited piece (food or lifestyle strongly preferred), your take on what makes Pick Up Limes editing work, and one question you'd want answered before starting.
