Open Call — short stories & flash fictions
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
Calliope is an upcoming, publishing app dedicated to genre fiction — interactive, illustrated fiction. Anything to do with high fantasy, operatic sci-fi, heart-stopping action, that’s our jam. Combine that with visually stunning imagery that responds to your touch, and you have our mission.
Our goal is to make reading fun, immersive, effortless, and fantastical.
We’re looking for short stories and flash fictions of any type of genre fiction (i.e., romance, horror, science fiction, fantasy, crime, etc.) Please note, each fiction form has its own submission guidelines. These are listed below:
Overall Guidelines:
- We take rolling submissions.
- You may submit more than one work at a time. However, please do not submit the same work multiple times.
- We offer market compensation in USD. Rates will vary depending on story length.
- Your work cannot be published or posted anywhere else. If you’ve previously posted your work on any social platform we cannot accept it, even if you’ve already taken it down.
- We take Exclusive First World Rights.
- Should your story be accepted for publication, and should you accept our contract terms and rates, we’ll publish your work through our app as well as our social media sites.
- We regret that we won’t be able to accept all work, or personally reply to all submissions.
Please send your submissions as a PDF attachment [Removed by Admin for offsiting - TOC Section 13] using the following guidelines:
- 12 pt Times New Roman
- Double-spaced
Short Story Guidelines:
- Short stories should be between 2,000 to 4,000 words.
Flash Fiction Guidelines:
- Flash fictions should be between 100 to 1,000 words.
