Voice AI and Backend Developer - AI Communications Platform

Senior Voice AI & backend Developer Needed for Voice AI Platform

Project Overview:
We are looking for a Senior Voice AI Developer (and backend/frontend contributors) to join our team part-time to enhance an existing, production-ready AI Communications Platform.

The current application is a fully functional, multi-module AI agent system built with Python (FastAPI) and React/Next.js. A voice-first AI agent that can sit naturally across CRM, chat and video modules and operate in real time on web and desktop. Our primary goal is to migrate the voice infrastructure from VAPI to LiveKit Cloud to gain full control over the orchestration pipeline. Additionally, we need to implement new features, improve the existing "Agentic AI" capabilities, and integrate third-party microservices like Chatwoot, WhatsApp, and Helpdesk systems.

This is not a greenfield project. You will be working on a mature codebase. We are looking for specialists who can jump in, understand the architecture, and deliver specific modules or migrations.

Key Objectives:
Voice Migration (Critical): Replace the existing VAPI integration with LiveKit Cloud. You must build a custom orchestration pipeline (STT → LLM → TTS) using LiveKit Agents (Python) that handles interruptions ("barge-in") and low-latency streaming naturally.

Feature Enhancements: Expand the current agent capabilities, improving their ability to follow complex workflows (RAG, tool use).

Integrations: Connect the platform with Chatwoot (for omnichannel chat), WhatsApp Business API and Helpdesk ticketing systems.

Frontend Updates: Update the React/Next.js frontend to support the new LiveKit-based voice features and real-time dashboards.

Backend: Python 3.11+, FastAPI (Asyncio expertise required)

Database: PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy, Alembic

Voice/Real-Time: LiveKit Cloud (Agents Framework), WebRTC, SIP/Twilio

AI/LLM: OpenAI (GPT-4o), Deepgram (STT), ElevenLabs/Azure (TTS), LangChain/LlamaIndex

Frontend: React, Next.js 15, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Zustand

Infrastructure: Docker, Azure Blob Storage, Redis, Celery

Who We Are Looking For:
We are open to Freelancers and Part-Time Developers who specialize in one or more of the following areas:

Voice AI Specialist: Must have proven experience with LiveKit Agents, Python asyncio, and building real-time voice bots. You know how to handle audio buffers and latency.

Backend Engineer: Expert in FastAPI, database schema design, and integrating complex third-party APIs (Chatwoot, CRM).

Full Stack/Frontend: Strong Next.js and Real-Time UI experience (WebSockets, LiveKit Client SDK).

Budget & Expectations:
Rate: We have received proposals across multiple platforms with an average rate of $7.50.

Model: Part-time / Task-based / Hourly.
