Project Overview and Significance

This project centers on the development of a 30 Garment collection for a major solo fashion show scheduled to take place in New York, USA. This is considered a serious project and a significant opportunity for future association and growth. The show will be presented before large business groups and aims to attract the US market.

The event is high-profile, associated with our Director, Ruma Devi, a Harvard speaker who has recently received awards from US Congressmen and counties in New York. In addition to the runway show, the overall event will feature a large exhibition, including live demonstrations of handcrafted products, to help guests understand and appreciate the value of artisan work and craftsmanship.

Design Mandate and Strategic Focus

The overarching goal is to present collections that resonate strongly with the American consumer.

Collection Focus: The primary need for the US market presentation is ready-to-wear Western & indo western wear. While some traditional Indian pieces may be included, the collection must heavily prioritize the Western style to ensure market appeal.
Materials and Quality: Given the current focus on sustainability and natural living, designers should utilize appropriate natural fabrics like cotton and silk. A critical requirement is that all supplied materials, particularly for specialized processes like Tie & Dye, must feature fast colors to prevent bleeding, as US buyers will reject items that bleed.
Design Strategy: Designs should be contemporary and should incorporate fashion forecasts while creating a balance. Garments must be unique enough to distinguish the brand (novelty) but still wearable and regular enough to be purchased by the consumer.
Sizing: It is crucial to remember that the standard US Medium size is very large. Designers must consult with the coordinator to confirm the precise sample size required for the fashion show.
Required Deliverables and Coordination

Preparation: Once fabrics and inspiration are approved, the designer will proceed with sampling and creation.
Pattern Creation: Completed garments must be accompanied by accurate patterns (which may be hand-made, but must be precise, even if not professionally marked).
Timeline: The final collection must be prepared for shipment around the mid or end of January
Coordination: Please remain in close contact with the Coordinator.
