I need someone good with Excel to do a lookup

I have a spreadsheet that has a column of 8 digit numbers. This spreadsheet has 5596 rows. On another spreadsheet I have a list of 989 of the same 8 digit numbers. On the first sheet I need to have the word "New" put into column A if the numbers do not match and "in File" if they do match.
