Syncrosim/BurnP3+ Customization for NZ Wildfire analysis
Budget: $250 – $750 NZD
Title: Setup of Syncrosim/BurnP3+ (Prometheus and Cell2Fire) for New Zealand.
Description:
We are looking to adapt the Syncrosim/BurnP3+ (Prometheus and Cell2Fire), originally developed for Canadian landscapes, for use in New Zealand (NZ) wildfire modeling. The project involves customizing and setting up a Syncrosim demonstration library specifically for New Zealand, that can be then further manipulated as required. Key to this is using NZ Landcover database input as Fuels, the NZ Digital Elevation Model, and the Coordinate Reference System (CRS): Transverse Mercator (epsg:2193). The freelancer needs strong skills in data management with QGIS, Python and/or R coding to produce input processes for the translation of the different systems (e.g. CRS) between Canada and New Zealand.
Additionally, the successful freelancer will create a detailed procedure documentation, provide an example data library reflecting New Zealand’s conditions, and develop any necessary Python scripts.
