I manage the tendering pipeline at Rotorua Steel Structures and, despite my own expert background, the volume of work now calls for a dedicated estimator who can step in quickly and keep bids flowing on time. Most packages you will see are medium-sized residential or commercial steel structures, with the occasional larger job that may push up to multi-storey or light industrial scale.
Here is what I need from you on each tender:
• A clear, itemised quantity take-off covering all structural steel members, connections, bolts and fittings.
• A cost estimate that folds in fabrication, surface treatment and erection, referenced to current local steel rates and labour allowances.
• A concise pricing sheet I can drop straight into the final submission, showing mark-ups and any stated exclusions.
You’re free to use your preferred take-off software (Tekla, Bluebeam, ProEst or similar) as long as the final deliverables arrive in Excel/PDF and align with standard NZS/AS bolt and section designations.
Typical turnaround sits at five working days from drawing release, but faster responses on smaller projects will help us stay competitive. Accuracy and readable documentation are far more important to me than eye-catching graphics—solid numbers win jobs.
