Retail Bookkeeping Opportunity for Newbies
Budget: $15 – $25 USD
I run several retail ventures and the transaction volume has outgrown what a single in-house person can comfortably handle. To keep the books clean and the momentum of each store visible at a glance, I’m bringing in a small team of bookkeepers, ideally people who are still hungry to prove themselves and willing to learn fast.
What you’ll be doing
• Posting daily sales, expenses and fee adjustments in QuickBooks Online
• Reconciling bank, credit-card and payment-processor accounts at least once a week
• Keeping A/P and A/R schedules current so I never have to chase a missing invoice
• Generating month-end P&L, balance sheet and cash-flow snapshots that actually make sense to a non-accountant
• Processing invoices
Why this matters
Accurate, up-to-date numbers drive every decision I make, from inventory buys to staffing. Sloppy books slow me down. Newbies are welcome, but only if you’re meticulous, responsive and willing to ask questions before assumptions turn into errors.
Tools & process
Everything happens inside QuickBooks; no spreadsheets or alternative software for core entries, though you’re free to use Excel or Google Sheets to prep import files if that speeds you up. I’ll provide read-only logins to banks and payment platforms and share a short SOP video so you can hit the ground running.
Deliverables I consider complete
1. All weekly entries posted and matched by Sunday night (my time).
2. Reconciliation reports showing a zero difference for each linked account.
3. A clean, labeled folder with monthly financial statements exported to PDF and the QuickBooks backup file.
If you’re detail-oriented, comfortable in QuickBooks, and excited to grow alongside a demanding, but fair retail owner, send a brief note about your past projects or coursework and tell me the one bookkeeping task you enjoy most. Let’s build a system that makes the numbers sing.
