OCR a FAX-quality document into Excel file

Hi, looking for help transcribing text from a hardcopy FAXed document into an Excel file. The FAX'ed documents will frequently have lines through them from the FAX machine, etc, that has wreaked havoc with the OCR applications that I have tried.
