Indesign Catalog Built by Excel Data Merger
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
I am looking for a freelancer who can help me create an InDesign catalog by merging Excel data. We are looking for an individual familiar with excel and indesign to import various products currently in an excel database into an indesign layout using the merge data feature. The project requirements are as follows:
- Excel Data Format: The data is in XLSX format.
- Catalog Pages: The catalog will have more than 100 pages.
- Design Template: Although I don't have a specific design template in mind, we will be creating one and will look for recommendations in design compatibility with the data merge feature.
- Total product count estimated at 1800
Excel File management:
- Remove items that meet or don't meet select criteria from the excel doc
- Merge "variable" product details into the main product
- Sort and organize products based on category, name and other criteria
- Clean up data, including removing repeated html code displayed in the fields
Indesign Management:
- Provide design recommendations to better manage the data merge
- Import the excel data using merge data feature
- Imported elements may include product name, description, sku numbers, variable product sku numbers and images.
- - Images are listed in the excel data as a web url.
- Merge the data into the catalog design (created by us), generating additional pages as needed.
- Organize the data into appropriate categories in the catalog
- Review and ensure data was correctly populated, resolving any issues that appear
- Generate and implement category based QR codes
- Assist with packaging the file for final print
Skills and Experience:
- Proficiency in InDesign: The freelancer should have a strong understanding of InDesign and be able to efficiently merge the Excel data into the catalog.
- Graphic Design: The freelancer should have experience in graphic design to create a visually appealing and professional catalog.
- Attention to Detail: It is important that the freelancer pays attention to detail to ensure accurate data merging and consistent design throughout the catalog.
- Communication: Good communication skills are essential to understand and implement my specific design requirements.
If you have the necessary skills and experience, and are able to meet my specific design requirements, I would love to discuss the project further.
