Fixed-Width Text to Excel

I have a batch of fixed-width plain-text files that I need converted into a clean Excel workbook. The main objective is long-term archiving, so fidelity of the raw data is more important than presentation.
What I need:
• Parse each fixed-width row correctly into separate columns.
• Deliver the result in a single .xlsx file with one sheet per source file (unless you suggest a better archival structure).
• Add basic validation where it helps—simple checks such as highlighting empty mandatory fields or flagging obvious misalignments are enough. No complex rules are required.
• I am not requesting any special layouts or styling; default Excel formatting is fine as long as every character from the original files is preserved.
