Excel vlookup and optimization 700 lines

I have two excel files with approx. 150 locations listed.
File 1 has 700 lines and T columns. Each vendor and service gets its own line.
File 2 has 150 lines and less columns.
I want to pull some vendor info from file 1 into file 2, matching the location and avoiding duplicates.
File 1 also needs optimization. It got to the point where it is too slow to work with even if it has no formulas, no macros, no notes - just basic text and $ cells.
