Excel-based Dance Progress Tracking System

Job ID: 38679107

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

I’m looking for an Excel expert to help set up a comprehensive progress tracking system for my West Coast Swing dance practice. This system will allow me to measure my growth across multiple categories such as content (moves and footwork), self-technique (posture, body connection), partnering skills, musicality, dynamics, and performance. I need this spreadsheet to be flexible, intuitive, and able to track my progress week to week with clear visualizations of improvement.

What I need:

1. Structure & Hierarchy:
Main Categories: Set up the following 6 main categories:

Content (Moves, Footwork, etc.)
Self Technique (Posture, Body Connection, etc.)
Partnering Skills (Connection, Leading, Stretch, etc.)
Musicality (Phrasing, Character, Dancing to Lyrics, etc.)
Dynamics (Dips, Stretches, Athletic Elements, etc.)
Performance (Audience Engagement, Showcasing Skills)
Sub-Categories & Variations: Each main category will contain sub-categories, and some sub-categories will have additional variations.

For example, Dips will include variations such as:
Drops
Behind the Back Dips
Behind the Shoulder Dips
The mastery level for a sub-category (e.g., Dips) should be calculated as the average of its variations. Each variation will have a separate rating (1-10).
Flexibility for Adding New Skills: Ensure that the spreadsheet allows for new sub-categories and variations to be added in the future, with averages updating automatically as new data is added.

2. Rating System (1-10):
Create a rating system (1-10) for each skill, sub-category, and main category. Each variation within a sub-category will have its own rating, and the sub-category’s rating will be calculated as the average of the variations.
Input Structure:
In the weekly progress sheet, I will input the skills I worked on and provide ratings for each variation.
These ratings should automatically feed into the master sheet and update the average for each sub-category and main category.
3. Weekly Progress Sheet:
Create a weekly progress sheet where I can input the skills I worked on during the week. This sheet should auto-populate with the most up-to-date ratings for each skill/variation from the master sheet, so I can see the current values when the sheet is created.
When I update the values for the week, the following should happen:
If a value has improved (the new rating is higher than the previous week), the number should turn green.
If a value has worsened (the new rating is lower than the previous week), the number should turn red.
If a value remains the same, it should remain black.
Skill Categorization: When I input a skill, allow me to select one or more of the 6 big categories it contributes to. Some skills may belong to multiple categories (e.g., "Drop Dips" may contribute to both Content and Dynamics).
This sheet should feed data into the master sheet for long-term tracking and visualizations.
4. Master Spreadsheet:
Create a master sheet that tracks my overall progress across all categories over time. This sheet should:
Display the overall average mastery level for each main category based on the sub-categories and variations.
Include a line graph showing overall progress in all categories over time.
Include a primary pie chart showing my level of expertise in each category, calculated by the average of all subcategories in each.
Provide a manual input section where I can enter current focus areas to remind myself what to prioritize in my practice.
Automatically pull updated data from the weekly practice sheets.
5. Color Coding (Mastery Level):
Apply a simple color-coded system to indicate the level of mastery:
1 = Red, 10 = Green, and intermediate numbers will have shades between red and green.
Use this color scheme for both the weekly and master spreadsheets to provide a quick visual representation of progress.
6. Timeline/Progression Tracker:
Implement a timeline tracker that shows when I started working on each skill and how it has evolved over time.
This should automatically update when new ratings or skills are added, allowing me to see which skills I’ve worked on the longest and how they’ve progressed.
7. Social Dance Ability Chart:
Include a separate chart in both the weekly and master sheets where I can input my social dance ability. This rating should be independent of the other skill ratings.
This data should be tracked over time and incorporated into the timeline tracker to visualize how my social dance ability improves or changes relative to other skill categories.
8. Sample Data:
Populate the spreadsheet with sample data, using a mastery level of 1 for all skills, sub-categories, and variations. I will update the values myself as I progress.
Key Deliverables Summary:
Hierarchy of categories/sub-categories/variations, with automatic average calculations.
Auto-populating weekly progress sheet with color-coded changes (green for improvement, red for decline).
Rating system (1-10) for each skill, sub-category, and variation.
Weekly progress sheet for inputting skill data, connected to the master sheet.
Master sheet with a pie chart, line graphs, and a timeline tracker.
Social dance ability chart tracked over time and incorporated into the timeline.
Color-coded system (red to green) indicating the level of mastery.
Sample data populated with mastery level 1 for all items.
What I'm Looking For:

I’m seeking someone skilled in Excel who can set up this tracking system efficiently. If you have experience building complex tracking systems or custom spreadsheets, I’d love to work with you. Please reach out with any questions or clarifications, and feel free to provide a quote for completing the project.

Thanks, and I look forward to working with you!
