Excel Dashboard for Ongoing Feedback
Budget: ₹1,500 – ₹12,500 INR
I want to have a dashboard framework that I can use to supplement the report forms I send to my clients. Each client (a school district in California) uses our online survey forms (built-in SurveyMonkey.com) to collect feedback data from every professional learning session offered (usually 1-hour trainings or a series of training sessions on how to teach). Some clients offer 10 sessions a year, and others can offer nearly 100, depending on what their goals and needs are. Each client has their own survey built to use in each session repeatedly throughout the year. The survey questions consist of 4pt. Likert Scale questions (4=Strongly Agree, 3=Moderately Agree, 2=Slightly Agree, 1=Do Not Agree) or 6pt. balanced scale questions (+3=Strongly Agree, +2=Moderately Agree, +1=Slightly Agree, -1=Slightly Disagree, -2=Moderately Disagree, -3=Strongly Disagree). There are qualitative questions asked as well, which we copy/paste into the final word document reports. There are generally two levels of data disaggregation: 1) What kind of teacher are they? (Kindergarten, Elementary School, Middle School, and High School) and 2) What is their role or years of experience (administrator, new teacher, mentor/coach)? So I end up disaggregating the results by 5-10 different subgroups and show them all together in charts with different colors for each group. I currently analyze and report the data by building Excel templates that are linked to a word document template. That way, I only need to copy/paste a new set of raw data into the template, and all my tables and charts will repopulate in the word document. Then I break the links to the word document, finalize and edit the report, and send it. Once the templates are set up, it takes less than 20 minutes to create a report from new data. My templates use formulas and logic to translate the raw data into descriptive statistics (Number in Attendance, Mean ratings, Standard Deviations, frequencies of chosen ratings, and Percentages) for the overall session and each individual disaggregated subgroup. I use conditional formatting to highlight important findings or hide irrelevant data. If there are fewer than four responses in a group, I have to hide that data in the charts and tables.
I want a dashboard template created that I can use and modify slightly for each client. The greatest modifications between clients usually consist of adding a question (still a 4pt. scale rating or a 6pt. rating) or changing the wording of an individual rating question.
The dashboard should ideally be able to show all our findings on one page, but would allow clients to compare previous data throughout the year (which may need to be on an additional dashboard page). For example, if a client has completed facilitating their 50th session (where we've already reported on 49 other sessions), I want them to be able to see the results for that session and be able to call up previous session data to compare results over the series of sessions. That way they could see if a results of a session were significantly different during the year (which could mean the client needs to look in detail at the outlier session and find out the reason for the results - sometimes the presenter wasn't good or the subject matter of the session was not aimed at the attendees).
We do an annual report at year's end where we give results to each rating question and plot every session side-by-side for comparison. So if a client uses a survey with four rating questions (i.e. Rate the extent you agree with the following statements: "This session useful" "the goals of the session were clearly defined" "the presenter was effective in facilitating the session" and "I would recommend this session to my colleagues"), and the survey had been used to collect data for 10 sessions, there would be four charts (one per question) with 10 data points shown in each chart to compare results session-by-session.
