Excel Add-In for Situational Decision-Making
Budget: $1,500 – $3,000 USD
The selected candidate will be provided with a detailed specification and an example Excel Workbook. The deliverable is a cross-platform (Windows, Mac OS) Microsoft 365 Excel Add-in that creates an Excel main menu item with a dedicated ribbon containing 3 commands. One of these commands displays dialogs (up to 3 dialogs) that enable users to enter text, numerical information, and rules as Excel formulas. One of the remaining two commands is used to evaluate the information and rules, using as input other data contained in spreadsheets (tables of data) within the same Excel Workbook. The remaining command generates a summary report that will be displayed in a separate tab. User-entered information can be stored internally in a tree structure and the evaluation is a simple aggregation based on evaluation of the rules. Results must be stored and persist within the Workbook, which can be saved to retain this information.
The Add-in is Office Administrator-managed and accessible from the Insert menu-My Add-ins command. The intention for a later release is to make the release version of the Add-in available through the Microsoft Office Add-ins Store. Thus, compliance with Microsoft commercial marketplace certification policies will be required in a future release version and this should be anticipated by the design of this Add-In.
We're looking only for freelancers with demonstrable skills in creating Microsoft 365 Add-ins that meet the requirements above. Future versions of the Add-in are planned for release as downloadable, so ease of use, compliance with the Excel user experience model, and compatibility with existing Excel features are essential. We expect the developer to have the ability to advise on areas where the Excel Add-in can be improved to enhance the user experience. The Developer must use Visual Studio or Visual Studio Code to create the Add-in.
