Budget: $14 – $30 NZD
I have a large spradsheet of data from my business. It contains customer names and the sale price for each customer. I need to know what the average sale price is for the company for the year. The reason I cant do it is because some customers have multiple sales per transaction. For example one sale may be made up of multiple parts and look like this:
Customer A = $1,000
Customer A = $500
Customer A = $2,000
Customer B = $700
Customer B = $1,200
Customer C = $3,000
CUSTOMER A: This is one sale, but the data is made of 3 parts. For the purpose of this research, this particular sale needs to be counted as 1 sale of $3,500, NOT 3 sales with an average of $1,166.
CUSTOMER B: Same as customer A, this data is 1 sale of $1,900, but made of 2 parts ($700 + $1,200).
CUSTOMER C: This is easy as its just one part and the $3,000 amount can be used to represent this sale amount.
The research needs to calculate the above scenario like this: Customer A $3,500 + Customer B $1,900 + Customer C $3,000 = $9,400 divided by 3 customers = $3,133 average sales price across 3 customers.
There is lots of these examples in the data which makes the job too big to complete manually, so needs someone with knowledge of formulas to to this.
