Calculations for gliders for tethered mode

Job ID: 35847646

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

The task is related to this project : http://meteoreactors.xp3.biz/tall_chimney/index.htm

It requires to keep the lightweight chimney raised so one of approaches is to use the lifting force of wings and the wind.

The chimney is made of lightweight and very strong spinnaker nylon fabric. It is possible to attach the wooden hoops and then attach the gliders to the hoops.

The gliders will work in kite mode within some limited range of angles of attack.

The task consists of two stages:

1) Design and calculations - you need to provide the chain of formulas to determine the basic shape of the gliders.
The formulas should work in Excel or SMath without whatever simulations.
You can make them in another system as MatLab but it should be possible to transfer them into Excel or SMath .
Formulas also calculate the main parameters of gliders.

2) Creating and testing of gliders on tether without chimney - this stage can be made by me or another contractor , the real parameters of gliders are measured, project is considered successful if the measurements are close to the calculations provided by formulas.

The gliders should be designed to be made by most simple and primitive way from cheap materials that are easy to process, technology similar to kites.

The more detailed description is in the attached task.doc, FreeCAD and SMath files.

The bid should contain the description of your experience in design of gliders or aircrafts. :-)
If you can make the stage 2 yourself then please also mention this in the bid.
