Optimize and Clean Master Spreadsheet
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
Our company relies on one very large, multi-sheet Excel workbook as the master file for day-to-day operations. Over time it has grown bloated: formulas are scattered across dozens of tabs, formatting is inconsistent, and the file now freezes or takes minutes to calculate whenever we open, save, or filter data.
The immediate goal is to eliminate every bottleneck. I need the entire workbook audited—specifically the formulas and overall formatting—to locate circular references, volatile functions, hidden conditional formats, broken named ranges, and anything else that drags performance down. Unused styles, excess rows/columns, and outdated links also have to go.
Once the problems are identified, clean the workbook so it opens quickly, recalculates without hanging, and keeps a professional, uniform look. If rewriting complex formulas into more efficient alternatives or consolidating sheets with Power Query or VBA is the best route, feel free; the end product just has to be faster, lighter, and error-free.
Deliverables
• A streamlined, fully functional Excel file that no longer freezes
• A short change log summarising key fixes (formula rewrites, removed styles, sheet consolidations, etc.)
• Brief guidance on any new macros or Power Query steps added, so we can maintain the file internally
Everything must stay in native Excel—no external databases or third-party add-ins.
