Material Costing Excel Model

I have an Excel workbook that houses customer-specific data and I need it to calculate material costs automatically so I can turn around accurate quotations in minutes, not hours. The core of the job is to build (or rebuild) complex formulas and, if needed, a small underlying model that pulls the right rates, quantities, mark-ups and taxes for each client scenario.

The worksheet already contains raw customer information; what’s missing is the logic that translates that data into reliable cost breakdowns. I’m expecting robust functions—INDEX/MATCH or XLOOKUP combinations, dynamic array formulas, maybe some helper tables—to validate entries, perform the cost roll-ups and present a clear total ready for the quote.

When we’re done I want:
• One self-contained Excel file with clean, well-commented formulas.
• A quick guide inside the file so my team can update price lists and modify inputs without breaking anything.

If you’ve built pricing or material costing tools before, this should feel familiar. Accuracy and clarity are the main success criteria; if every quote matches our manual check and the sheet is easy to maintain, we’re good.
