Gene Translation & Excel Search
Budget: $30 – $250 CAD
My spreadsheet contains 603 genes, each paired with an English-language description of the associated condition. I need every one of those descriptions rendered into accurate, idiomatic French that still preserves the precise biomedical terminology used by clinicians and researchers.
Once the translations are in place, I also want the file to offer quick look-ups: a simple search box right inside Excel that lets users type a condition name and instantly see every gene that matches, without any autofill or type-ahead suggestions. A VBA user-form or an elegant worksheet-level search field is fine—as long as it works natively inside Excel and is easy for non-technical colleagues to operate.
Deliverables
• Updated Excel workbook containing the original English text plus the French translation (location of the French text—adjacent cell, new column, or another clear layout—can follow whichever structure you feel keeps the sheet readable).
• A built-in search interface that performs exact or partial-string searches on the condition/descriptive text and lists the corresponding gene rows on demand.
• Brief, in-file instructions so any lab member can start using the tool immediately.
Accuracy in translation and a smooth, no-frills search experience are the priorities, so please keep the code lightweight and the language precise.
