Excel 97-2001 Workbook Fix

My long-running workbook is still in the old Excel 97-2001 (.xls) format and over time the formulas—especially anything tied to Data Validation—have started to misbehave across multiple yearly sheets. Formulas that should update automatically are either returning the wrong results or refusing to react when the source data changes. I’m not fully sure which validation rules are broken, but I can supply the entire file so you can see the behaviour first-hand.
Here’s what I need:
• Open the existing .xls file in a modern version of Excel, locate every formula that is failing, and correct it so the results match the intended logic.
• Audit and repair all Data Validation rules so they apply consistently on every sheet and trigger the correct messages when breached.
• Ensure the repaired workbook stays fully compatible with both legacy and current Excel versions—or let me know if an .xlsx migration is the more stable route.
• Provide a short change log so I can follow exactly what was fixed or improved.
Once the workbook calculates properly and validation behaves as expected, we’re done. If you spot any quick performance or clarity tweaks along the way, feel free to suggest them. I’ll send the file as soon as we start.
