Excel Stock Transaction Logger

I need a solid yet streamlined Excel-based solution that lets me capture every stock market buy or sell in a way that makes later investment analysis painless.

Scope of work
• Build or refine an Excel workbook (no additional software) that records four key details for each trade:
– Date and time of transaction
– Price per share
– Number of shares
– Automatic adjustment that offsets each sale against the lowest-priced shares I still hold (lowest-cost method)
• Generate running positions, realised gain/loss and any other metrics that naturally flow from those calculations so I can explore performance without extra effort.
• Keep formulas, tables or VBA code transparent and well commented so I can audit or tweak them later.

Deliverables
1. Fully functioning Excel file ready for immediate data entry.
2. Clear written notes inside the workbook (or a concise PDF) summarising how the logic works and how to extend it.

I’m flexible on layout as long as the data stays easy to filter, pivot or chart. If you can add thoughtful touches—dropdowns, conditional formatting, simple dashboards—that improve usability without over-engineering, great.
