Dynamic Excel Recipe Costing Workbook
Budget: $250 – $500 AUD
I’m looking for a well-structured Microsoft Excel workbook that keeps all of my ingredient prices on one master sheet, then feeds those numbers into individual recipe pages so I instantly see how much any dish costs to make. I’ll be typing prices in manually, so the file must accept straightforward data entry—no external feeds—yet the moment I change a cell on the ingredient sheet every linked recipe should recalculate automatically.
Each recipe page needs a spot for total batch size and yield so it can show both the full-batch cost and the cost per serving. Adding a new recipe should be as simple as duplicating a template tab (or inserting into an Excel Table) without breaking a single formula; I don’t want to copy-paste complex references each time.
To keep the hand-off smooth, please include:
• One master “Ingredients” sheet with columns for ingredient name, unit, pack size, cost, supplier and any other fields your formulas require.
• A clean recipe template already wired to the master list via dropdowns or lookups for quick ingredient selection.
• Automatic cost rollups that update instantly when an ingredient price changes.
• Built-in yield and portion calculations on every recipe page.
• A brief set of usage notes right inside the workbook so I can maintain it long term.
No historical price tracking is needed for now, but feel free to leave the structure flexible enough that I could add it later. If you’re comfortable using named ranges, Tables, or Power Query for cleaner links, that’s a plus—just keep the file lightweight and easy for a non-technical user to maintain.
