Cross-Platform Excel Expense Tracker
Budget: ₹600 – ₹1,500 INR
I need a single Excel file that lets me log daily expenses through a clean, form-style interface. The front sheet should present five input fields—Date, Expense Category, Remark, Amount, and Mode of Payment—and push each entry to a hidden or separate Data tab so the log stays tidy.
Expense category and Mode of Payment shall be pre-defined list which can be populated even while using the form entry. e.g. original list may contain Credit Card and Saving A/C as predefined list. But, I should be able to add GPay as new mode of payment through form entry and next time it should be readily available in list
I work across the Excel mobile apps on iOS and Android as well as Excel Online in a browser, so every formula, data-validation list, and button must stay fully functional on those three platforms. No password protection or role management is necessary; simplicity and reliability are the priorities.
Inside the same workbook I also want a reporting section that automatically refreshes a category-wise breakdown. A pivot table or dynamic array solution is fine as long as I can instantly see totals per category and filter by date ranges without running macros—Excel’s native features should handle it.
Deliverables
• One .xlsx file containing:
– Input form with the five fields listed above
– Structured data table capturing each submission
– Category-wise summary report that updates automatically
– Clear cell formatting and named ranges so future edits are easy
Acceptance criteria
• File opens and edits smoothly on Excel for iOS, Android, and Web without compatibility warnings
• New entries appear in the Data tab with no manual copying
• Reports update instantly after each new expense is logged
• No VBA/macros that could be blocked on mobile or web
Hand the finished workbook over and I’ll run a quick test across my devices to confirm everything works before sign-off.
