Excel Sheet for Car Rentals

I run a small-to-mid sized car-rental operation and my current workbook is only a rough draft. I’ll share that sample file with you as the starting point. From there I need a clean, well-structured Microsoft Excel solution that:

• Uses separate, but linked, worksheets—for rental periods & pricing, and for customer details—so information flows automatically between them.
• Calculates all rental charges, balances, deposits, taxes or fees the moment I enter pick-up / return dates and the daily rate.
• Applies solid data-validation rules (date logic, duplicate checks on customer names or IDs, restricted rate fields, etc.) so staff can’t accidentally break the file.

I only need to track rental periods, rents and the customer names—no maintenance records right now—so the overall layout can stay focused and fast. The finished workbook should open in the latest desktop Excel, require no add-ins, and be easy for me to extend later.

When you hand it back, please include a quick walk-through note inside the file (or a brief PDF) that explains where to type everyday data and how the automated calculations work. Once I can enter a new booking and see the total owed populate instantly with all validations firing correctly, the job is done.
