Excel Macro Formatting Spreadsheet
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I have two separate .csv exports that I work with every day, and I’m tired of manually cleaning them up. I need a single, macro-enabled Microsoft Excel workbook that will let me paste each file’s raw data into a holding sheet, click a button, and watch the macro do the rest—splitting the information into the appropriate worksheets, applying the right column order, headings, and any basic visual polish we agree on (alignment, fonts, simple borders, etc.).
The end goal is speed: drop in the data, run the macro, and have a ready-to-use, neatly formatted file in seconds. I’m looking to turn this around ASAP, so if you’re comfortable writing reliable VBA, structuring multi-sheet workbooks, and documenting your code well enough that I can tweak it later, let’s get started.
Scope of Work (SOW) for Automating Excel-Based Azure and License Usage Data Processing
Project Overview:
This project involves developing a solution to automate the extraction, organization, and analysis of Azure usage invoices and Microsoft license data within Excel workbooks. The goal is to streamline monthly reporting, invoicing, and license management through automation, reducing manual effort and minimizing errors.
Objectives:
• Automate data extraction and processing of Azure and Microsoft license usage export files.
• Organize data into client-specific spreadsheets with category-based summaries and detailed drill-down capabilities.
Implement automation (via macros or formulas) to facilitate monthly updates and reporting.
Scope of Work Includes:
1. Data Import & Preparation:
o Import Azure usage invoices and Microsoft license reports monthly into dedicated Excel workbooks.
o Clean and format data, including categorization of usage and license types.
2. Client-Specific Workbooks:
o Separate data into individual spreadsheets for each client per monthly invoice. We receive one invoice which contains all client data.
o For each client sheet:
Identify and flag specific categories or values in designated cells.
Subtotal costs or quantities based on categories.
Enable drill-down to view individual items contributing to each total (e.g., using filters, pivot tables, or collapsible sections).
Reporting & Output:
o Generate monthly reports that aggregate costs, usage, and license allocations for invoicing purposes.
o Ensure reports are clear, well-organized, and easy to interpret.
3. Documentation & Support:
o Document macro functions, formulas, and data flow.
o Provide instructions for updating data monthly and maintaining the sheets.
Assumptions & Constraints:
• Data files from Microsoft are available in a consistent format each month.
• Users will review and validate data after automation run.
• The solution will be designed for Excel desktop, with VBA macros enabled.
Deliverables:
• Client specific Excel workbooks with two sheets, one, the azure usage and two, the 365 user license assignment. These two will originate from two different .csv files.
Estimated Timeline:
• Delivery of initial setup and automation scripts - asap
