This beloved Hindu festival marks the birth of Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and the god of wisdom, prosperity, and new beginnings.
During these 10 days, homes and public pandals come alive with beautifully crafted Ganpati idols, traditional decorations, devotional music, and daily aartis (prayers). Devotees offer sweets like modaks, Lord Ganesha’s favorite, and seek his blessings for happiness and success.
The festival concludes with the visarjan (immersion) of the idols in water, accompanied by processions, dancing, and the heartfelt chant of “Ganpati Bappa Morya, Pudhchya Varshi Lavkar Ya!” (O Lord Ganpati, come again early next year!).
