HVAC Estimator Needed -- 2
Budget: $15 – $25 CAD
We need an experienced estimator for 10–15 hours per week to help us quote more commercial HVAC Testing & Balancing work. Your core focus will be producing precise quantity take-offs for mechanical systems directly from plans and specs. We will send you the drawings in PDF. You will be required to accurately capture every diffuser or other outlets each system, as well as all source equipment and control points for that system. Then summarize the totals in clean, well-structured Microsoft Excel sheets that feed straight into my bid templates.
Because the projects are commercial or multi tent residential, you should already understand the typical scopes, equipment schedules and airflow requirements that appear on office, retail and multi-tenant residential jobs. If you can also spot value-engineering opportunities or flag obvious coordination issues while you measure, all the better—those insights help me sharpen my proposals.
Day-to-day you’ll:
• Review new bid invitations and confirm which drawings and spec sections apply
• Complete detailed quantity take-offs and cross-check against schedules
• Transfer counts, sizes and remarks into my Excel workbook so costs roll up correctly
• Return the finished take-off file by the agreed deadline (usually 24–48 hrs per set)
Accuracy and consistency matter more than speed, but I do expect dependable turnaround so I can price jobs on time. We’ll start with a small set of drawings to confirm workflow, then move on to larger packages as soon as we’re both comfortable.
If you’re quick with mechanical PDF take-offs and Excel formulas, and understand mechanical symbols and nomenclature without needing hand-holding, you’ll fit right in.
