IMPORTANT NOTE:
Do NOT even THINK of looking at movie review websites for any part of your paper. Several students get a zero every semester and fail the course using lines, phrases, or thoughts from a movie review website. I will be checking, and doing this is plagiarism. It could end your college career, go on your permanent record, and cause failure in the course.

Points Are Earned as Follows:

Introduction 10 points total:

• 10 points - Introduce the movie/paper – basic plot – in the context of sociological principles. You will synthesize – bring together – sociology and the movie plot.
List the four broad categories you will be covering. Integrate or weave in the list of categories within your introduction. It must be a well-developed paragraph with a depth of thought and good grammar.
Body Paragraphs (20 points each – there will be at least four body paragraphs) – 80 points total

• Open with your category in a clear topic sentence
• Within the paragraph, apply three examples of entirely different concepts to a movie scene under that category’s topic.
• For example (1 paragraph would look like)
o Category – socialization – described in the topic sentence
o Five points - Develop example 1 (your first topic related to socialization, for example – family as agent of soc) from a movie relating to the family as an agent of socialization. Do not define family as an agent of soc but apply a scene from the movie that shows an example of the concept.
o Five points - Develop example 2 (your second topic related to socialization, for example – nature vs. nurture) from a movie relating to nature/nurture. Do not define nature/nurture but apply a scene from the movie that shows an example of the concept.
o Five points - Develop example 3 (your third topic related to socialization, for example – The Looking Glass Self) from a movie related to The Looking Glass Self. Do not define The Looking Glass Self but apply a scene from the movie that shows an example of the concept.
o Five points – for paragraph development, communication of ideas, and grammar.

Each paragraph, like the example, would be worth 20 points, and you will do 4 – based on four different categories. These will total 80 points.

Conclusion – worth 10 points total
o Ten points - Evaluate - present your defended opinion of how well (or not) the movie related to sociology. Integrate this into your paper’s concluding statements.
Must be a well-developed paragraph with a depth of thought and good use of grammar.
