Budget: £20 – £250 GBP

PART 1 - REFLECTIVE ESSAY
Reflective Essay on the learning you have developed during the teaching block and relationship to
future learning and career prospects. (1000 words)

Guidance
The basic requirement is for you to reflect on the areas in which you have progressed during the
teaching block. (SATs log is a good starting point for this). Looking at these areas of progression you
will demonstrate how the learning so far will help your learning in the future and ultimately, your ability
to secure graduate level employment.

Specifically:
Consider the skills of a) Time Management
b) Research
c) Essay / Report Writing
1. What has happened during the last Teaching Block (250 words)

Consider in detail ONE specific learning experience for ONE of the above skills. which
progressed your ability during the teaching block:
 What specifically was it?
 When specifically, did it happen?
 What was the specific trigger event for the learning point?
 How specifically did it/will it change your future behaviour?
 Relate your learning experience to the academic literature on Reflective Learning (at least two
sources and in the Harvard Style)
2. Preparation for the next Teaching Block (250 Words)
 What specifically will you do differently in the second teaching block?
 How will this improve your independent learning?
 What specific actions do you need to take to maximize your learning?

3. Looking forwards to you post graduate career (500 Words)
Considering both a specific post graduate finance role which YOU have identified and researched, and
information from general research relating to what is required from a successful finance professional,
relate this to your learning from this module and identify specifically how it has helped you develop
your study skills as a Finance Professional while also thinking about your career and future skill set.
Provide at least two Harvard References – one for the specific role identified and the other for the
general Finance Professional area information you have studied.
Notes: Your reflective essay should be written in the first person (using ‘I’ and ‘me’) and should focus
on you rather than other people. However, although in the first person it should still be conducted in a
professional manner or as if you were to write to a potential employer. You may want to refer to theory
and current research into the education and job markets to support your conclusions, using well
referenced sources.
