Project Management Process
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
Each student shall write a technical paper for this assignment relating to the field of construction project management. The topic is up to each student to decide on what to write, but it must relevant to the “curriculum” material studied in this course, in other words, anything relating to the management of the construction process. Topics can include The Estimating Process, The Phases and/or Stages of Construction, Scheduling Process, Project Control. I don’t want you to recite what is in the book, I want you to think outside the box and present these or other topics to me in a new light. Tell me something I don’t know about the topic at hand.
To get started, the student shall submit to the instructor, a special topic of interest in the field of project management at the end of week one. Once a PM related topic has been agreed upon by the (student and instructor), then work on this assignment may commence.
The deliverable to meet this requirement shall be a paper using the standard APA research format. A length of between 2-4 pages, double spaced in the students’ particular desired area of interest.
Students are expected to deliver a relevant, “fact based” commentary and opinion on the subject, using at least 5 sources of research. This paper is intended to be analytical in nature, and the student shall compare and contrast various construction related aspects of the subject matter being reported on.
Specifically, I am looking for a business or technical formatted paper that has the following components to it:
A cover page, an introduction or background section, executive summary, main body, and of course a conclusion section. Graphics (and charts), are always encouraged, but do not count in the 2-4 page limit, and are considered extra work product. Direct quotations from published sources are encouraged, but should be cited in the bibliography, or a direct reference made to the books author in the appropriate paragraph.
