Routine Claim Letter

Create an Outline before your Begin Typing

One week ago, you deposited a $1,234.78 payroll check through the ATM at your bank
after having signed your name to the back of the check and writing the words "For
Deposit Only-Account Number 7852837" immediately above your signature (Account
Number 7852837 is your checking account). You discovered that the bank did not
deposit the check in your checking account, but instead deposited the check-in your
other account at the bank, a "money market" account.

As a result, you have "bounced" three checks totaling $583, and incurred $105 in returned check fees from the bank.
Additionally, one of the “bounced” checks was for a credit card payment. The credit
card company charged you a $25 returned check fee and a $35 late payment fee.

Your Task
Write a one-page letter to your bank (you’ll need to look up the address online) advising them
of this situation and requesting that they:

• Put the deposit in the proper account
• Credit your account for the $105 in returned check charges
• Reimburse you for the $25 returned check charge and the $35 late payment fee from the credit card company.
