Analysis of court processes
Budget: $30 – $250 AUD
What to do
Identify and describe three key areas in which our current Criminal Court System in Victoria could be improved. Remember that this assessment will be linked to the third assessment, so ensure that the three areas you are describing are areas in which reform is required. Do not describe the changes needed. Generally, the areas are suitable if they can be described with a phrase beginning with "The process of".
Example "the process of jury selection".
Research:
Conduct your own independent research to find information about each area you have identified.
You must identify and describe three areas in the Criminal Court System in Victoria.
Six appropriate academic sources need to be cited. At least four of the six should be scholarly sources (journal articles, books or book chapters). The remainder can be “grey literature” sources. As long as this requirement is met, there is no upper limit to the number of references that can be used. News sources may be used; however, they will not be considered as part of the six references.
Each area identified for improvement should have at least one corresponding citation as supporting evidence.
Presentation:
Present the information above in the following format:
Description of each process numbered from 1-3
Explain each of the three processes, including:
The process;
The stage at which it occurs,
The purpose
The function; and
Who is involved
Your writing should be in paragraphs, not dot points.
Your tone must be formal/academic – avoid emotive writing.
Referencing:
Include in-text citations throughout your response (author, year) when paraphrasing and (author, year, page) when direct quoting, with quotation marks.
Include a ‘Reference List’ at the end of your assignment. This should be provided on a separate page and in Alphabetical Order as per the APA referencing style. The heading should be centred and read 'References'. The list should left-aligned, with a hanging indent.
Adhere to the APA referencing style.
Word allocation:
Each process you have identified and described should be allocated approximately 500 words (References are not included in the total word count).
Pay equal attention to each process you have identified.
A range of 10% over or under the word count is permitted (no less than 1350 - no more than 1650 words)
