Embedded ePub CSS Styles
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I have a fully laid-out book ready for conversion but need a clean, embedded style sheet so every platform displays it exactly as intended. Your task is to write a standards-compliant CSS file, embed it in the existing XHTML/HTML, and return a finished ePub (and, if possible, a MOBI/KF8 build) ready for upload.
Scope of the style sheet
• Headings: multiple levels, consistent hierarchy (H1 & H2 font Rock Salt, H3 font Shantell Sans, H4 font Monserrat)
• Body text: paragraph indents, line spacing, alignment, lists (Font Monserrat)
• Letter text: paragraph indents, line spacing, alignment, lists (Font Shantell Sans)
• Quotations & captions: hanging indents or other clear treatment (Font Bauman's (quotations) and Monserrat (captions))
What I expect as deliverables
1. The polished ePub that passes EPUBCheck without warnings.
2. The standalone CSS file with clear comments for future updates.
3. A quick test report or screenshots from Calibre, iBooks, Kindle Previewer, and one Android reader confirming layout consistency.
4. (Bonus) A MOBI/KF8 export produced from the same source.
Tools such as Sigil, Calibre, Kindle Previewer, or any automated validator are fine as long as the final files remain lightweight and CSS-only—no inline formatting overrides. Let me know your turnaround time and any similar projects you have tackled so I can hit publish with confidence.
