Neighborhood Drainage & Culvert Inspection because my house flooded fron lack of maintenance
Budget: $1,500 – $3,000 USD
Our homeowners’ association needs a licensed civil engineer to perform a thorough inspection and assessment of the entire surface-water network that serves our subdivision. The immediate focus is on the culverts and stormwater drains that thread beneath our streets, along with an overall efficiency check on how the system handles heavy rain.
We have already noticed periodic blockages that lead to standing water and, during major storms, localized flooding at two intersections. I’d like you to pinpoint every obstruction, evaluate flow capacity, and verify structural soundness so we can budget accurately for maintenance or upgrades.
Site access is straightforward and I can accompany you for a walk-through. If you prefer to bring CCTV equipment, a laser level, or use software such as Civil 3D, StormCAD, or HEC-RAS for quick hydraulic calculations, let me know in advance so I can arrange any utilities-locate or traffic cones.
Deliverables I need:
• A concise inspection report (PDF) with annotated photos of each culvert and drain
• A map or schematic highlighting trouble spots, current flow paths, and any capacity bottlenecks
• Ranked recommendations for clearing, repair, or redesign, including estimated order-of-magnitude costs
The job wraps up once the report is accepted and all questions from our board are answered. Looking forward to working with someone who has tackled similar neighborhood-scale drainage reviews and can turn the report around quickly.
