Translation of academic book from English to Turkish
Budget: $1,500 – $3,000 USD
I am looking for a skilled translator to help me with a project. The project involves translating an academic book from English to Turkish. Here are the specific requirements for the job:
Word Count:
- The book has a word count of approximately 140,000 words.
Deadline:
- I am flexible with the timeline and do not have a specific deadline. However, I would prefer the translation to be completed in a reasonable timeframe.
Style and Tone:
- I would like the translator to adapt the style and tone of the book to better fit the target audience. It is important to maintain the overall message and essence of the original text while making it accessible and engaging for the Turkish readers.
Ideal Skills and Experience:
- Fluent in both English and Turkish, with a strong command of the languages and excellent writing skills in both.
- Experience in translating academic texts, preferably in the humanities or social sciences.
- Familiarity with the subject matter of the book would be a plus.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in translating complex ideas and concepts.
Shamanism is a technical book about cross-cultural research, anthropology, neuropsychology, consciousness and evolution.

Translator must input same formatting (heading, returns, paragraphs, table organization) as present in the text provided
Maintain formatting of headings (Bold, all caps, centerer, left flush, italics, etc).
Level 1 and Level 2 headings must be compiled for each chapter and organized as table of contents
Maintain placement of endnote numbers in text and associated numbered endnotes
I would expect that the translation be provided chapter by chapter to be checked for clarity by an expert reader. Passages which are problematic are re-examined in light of feedback from my reader and edited as necessary.
Files of translated material to be provided in MSWord
Provide bid based on cost per word.
The bid must include material that indicates the qualifications of the person to do this work and example of previously translated material on similar topics.
