Translation of Paediatric Healthcare Survey – English to Mandarin Chinese
Budget: ₹750 – ₹1,250 INR
Project Overview:
We are seeking three experienced linguists fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese to support the translation of a healthcare research survey intended for paediatric occupational therapists. This translation will form part of an ethics application for an international academic research study.
Project Scope:
We are using a simplified forward–backward translation model with a dual-panel reconciliation process to ensure conceptual accuracy and cultural appropriateness. The survey (approximately 1800–2000 words) includes multiple-choice and open-ended items, designed for clinicians working in diverse paediatric healthcare contexts.
Roles Needed:
1. Linguist A – Forward Translator
Translate the English survey into Mandarin Chinese, using appropriate clinical, educational, and cultural language.
2. Linguist B – Back Translator + Reconciliation Reviewer
Translate the Mandarin Chinese version back into English (without access to the original), then participate in comparing the two English versions to identify discrepancies and clarify intent.
3. Linguist C – Independent Reviewer (optional)
Review both translations to support reconciliation and help ensure semantic, idiomatic, and conceptual equivalence.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Proven experience translating health or education-related research instruments
• Fluency in Simplified Mandarin Chinese
• Strong understanding of cultural nuances in healthcare communication
• Experience supporting research ethics applications (preferred but not required)
Deliverables:
• Forward translation (Linguist A)
• Back translation + comparison (Linguist B)
• Reconciliation input (Linguist B and/or C)
• Notes explaining translation decisions and non-equivalent terms
Timeline:
Flexible but ideally completed within 10 business days from assignment.
Budget (Flat Rate in AUD):
• Forward Translation: AUD $100–130
• Back Translation + Reconciliation: AUD $150–180
• Independent Review (optional): AUD $90–120
Additional Notes:
• Survey content will be shared as a PDF with marked logic-based items.
• Participation in reconciliation may involve written comments or a brief video call.
• Translators will be acknowledged in future publications (with consent).
• All work must support application for formal ethics approval — accuracy and clarity are critical.
