Translate Short Books to English -- 2
Budget: $10 – $30 AUD
I have a collection of concise, article-style booklets that need to be rendered into clear, idiomatic English while preserving each author’s tone and nuance. Source material and references are ready to share as soon as we begin; the original language varies, so I’m looking for someone comfortable picking up unfamiliar texts and turning them into smooth, natural English without resorting to literal, word-for-word phrasing.
What I need from you
• A polished English version of every booklet, delivered in the same order and basic layout as the original (Word or Google Docs is fine).
• Faithful treatment of technical terms, idioms and any cultural references—if a phrase doesn’t translate directly, localise it so it makes sense to an English-speaking reader.
• Your own brief glossary or translator’s notes whenever a term requires extra context.
Acceptance criteria
1. Meaning matches the source text in full.
2. Tone and register feel natural to native English readers.
3. Formatting mirrors the original layout closely enough that I can drop the translation straight into the existing design.
If you use CAT tools such as Trados or memoQ, feel free—just make sure the final output is human-edited and fluid. Turnaround time is flexible but I’d like to review a first translation within a week of kick-off. Let me know your experience with similar short-form projects and how you normally handle revisions.
