Spanish Short Stories Translation
Budget: $30 – $60 NZD
I have a collection of Spanish-language short stories that I’d like rendered into fluid, engaging English while preserving each author’s voice, rhythm, and cultural nuance. The original texts range from a few pages to roughly fifteen pages each; most are written in a contemporary literary style with occasional regional turns of phrase.
What matters most to me is that the translated prose reads as if it were originally crafted in English—natural dialogue, consistent tense, and vivid imagery—yet still feels unmistakably rooted in its Spanish-speaking context. Nuanced wordplay, slang, and culturally loaded references may require short translator’s notes or creative solutions; I’m open to suggestions on when to leave a term in Spanish for effect versus when to fully localise it.
Please deliver:
• A clean, proof-read English manuscript for each story (Word or Google Docs is fine).
• The original Spanish text placed above or alongside its translation for easy comparison.
• Brief translator’s notes only where explanation is vital to preserve meaning or tone.
If you have demonstrated experience in literary translation, especially with Latin American or Spanish authors, that will help me feel confident the final work will resonate with English-speaking readers while staying true to the source.
