English-Arabic Literary Translation
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I have a piece of creative writing drafted in English that I now want to share with an Arabic-speaking readership. The text is firmly literary—rich in imagery, subtle tone shifts, and a conversational flow—so I need a translator who can preserve nuance rather than settle for word-for-word equivalence.
Scope
The manuscript is already edited in English and sits at roughly 9,000 words. Your task is to render it into polished, natural Arabic that reads as though it were originally written in that language. Cultural references, idioms, and stylistic rhythm all matter to me, so please be prepared to make thoughtful localisation choices and to flag any passages where authorial input might help.
Deliverables
• A fully translated Arabic manuscript delivered in an editable Word file (UTF-8 encoding).
• A brief translator’s note highlighting any lines where meaning was ambiguous or required creative interpretation.
• One revision round after my review to incorporate feedback or clarify intent.
Acceptance Criteria
• Flow and tone feel authentic to native Arabic readers.
• Literary devices (metaphor, imagery, voice) remain intact or are skilfully adapted.
• No machine-translation artefacts; the text must read naturally throughout.
Experience
If you have previous work on novels, short stories, or poetry anthologies from English to Arabic, I’d love to see a sample. Familiarity with Arabic dialect choices for a broad Middle-Eastern audience is ideal.
I’m ready to start as soon as I find the right fit and will be responsive to questions along the way. Looking forward to your proposal and, if possible, a short excerpt of past literary translation you’re proud of.
Hello!
I’m Sami Khan, a professional English–Arabic translator and creative writer specializing in literary, cultural, and stylistic translation. I focus on preserving voice, rhythm, and imagery so the Arabic version reads as though it were originally written in that language.
I’ve translated short stories, poetry collections, and narrative essays where tone, symbolism, and subtle meaning truly matter. My approach is entirely manual — I adapt idioms, metaphors, and cultural references naturally for Arabic readers while maintaining the author’s intent and emotional color.
