drone and weather forecasting research -- 3
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
This is a preliminary research to shed insights into something I'd like to explore in depth and turn into something like a prototyping project.
I'd like you to explore the trend of integrating a drone technology with the weather forecasting and bring out the service model that is trendy.
Please include the following criteria;
1. Payload types that carries out special functions of weather probing missions
2. Camera usage beyond what's mounted on a drone. (IMU and air-speed sensor, for example)
3. Service model for paid and free subscriptions with an api
4. List of services from a drone industry or of the weather service providers.
5. Type of drones that are used where it's relevant to this research project.
6. What are the special mission capabilities such as air-time, air-frame specifics and payload datasheet.
I need them in regards to a multicopter and a fixed-wing drone, where it's applicable.
I need them in regards to a multicopter and a fixed-wing drone, where it's applicable.
An example of research topic;
how much or how far does a forecast cover? It usually covers in km, when using a public API, but some service would give you in meters not kilometers.. for example, airport, golf-course or for locations for sports-events.
this is what you should cover in your research. what tools are they using? how they come about the exact location-based forecast? How will they transmit the data for analysis?
A radar? Satellite image analysis? etc
Weather modelling is a highly professional field... is there a open source that scientist and hard-core enthusiasts turn to?
About format:
No format is enforced for this deliverable. I prefer github-wiki, Jupyter-notebook and Notion. Powerpoint is not recommended.
About milestone;
I will create four-step milestones in sequence. When you first comes up with an abstract in a form of 'toc' with a brief note on what you would cover in that chapter. that's a milestone 1
milestone 2 is on the drone parts, milestone 3 is the meteorological aspect of the project. the order can be reversed or slightly mixed.
milestone 4 is your full report.
