Sydney Interim Structural Engineer
Budget: $1,500 – $3,000 AUD
I’ll be overseas for roughly four weeks and need a capable structural engineer to keep my small Sydney‐based practice running smoothly during that time.
You’ll become the first point of contact for our residential and light-commercial clients, carrying out all day-to-day engineering and admin duties until I return.
Technical work
• Conduct on-site foundation, framing and roof inspections throughout the Sydney metro area, typically one to three visits per day.
• Prepare clear, signed engineering reports and any required remedial recommendations immediately after each visit.
• Review or draft minor structural plans when builders or architects request last-minute changes.
Business & client liaison
• Monitor and answer all incoming emails so clients, builders and certifiers receive timely advice.
• Issue invoices as soon as inspections or drawing packages are delivered and follow up on any outstanding payments.
• Keep a simple log of jobs completed so I can pick up seamlessly on my return.
Before I leave I’ll give you a full hand-over, current job list, email template library and reporting format. I’ll also remain reachable for any escalations that truly require my input.
Acceptance criteria
– Every booked inspection attended on schedule and documented the same day.
– Reports and drawings formatted to the firm’s current template, ready for council or certifier submission.
– Inbox maintained below a 24-hour response time and all invoices sent within 48 hours of job completion.
If you’re a Sydney-based structural engineer with the qualifications to sign off residential work and a car for site travel, I’d love to arrange a brief meeting and hand-over date.
