Quality Engineer / Quality Manager (mechanical, cable assemblies)
Job Summary: The Quality Engineer/Manager is responsible for overseeing and
managing all aspects of quality assurance, assembly processes, staff training, and
control within our organization. This key role ensures that our products meet or exceed
customer expectations and comply with industry standards and regulations.
This person will be helping with product development wo I'm sure they will need to have some special skills. They will be developing cables assemblies for various products in the medical field. All the cable assemblies are custom for each project
Background:
Our company makes customer cable assemblies for medical, engineering, and commercial OEMs. (An OEM is an Original Equipment Manufacturer.) So people come to us for custom cables that they will use in the equipment that they build. The person we will be hiring will help us with Quality control and also product development for new cables that we can offer to the market in general.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Quality Management System (QMS):
Continuous improvement, updates, implementation, and maintenance of
our Quality Management System.
Establish and monitor quality policies, procedures, and objectives.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
2. Quality Control:
Oversee quality control processes, including inspections, audits, and
testing.
Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify and address
quality issues.
Implement and manage statistical process control (SPC) methods.
3. Quality Assurance:
Establish quality assurance guidelines and best practices.
Conduct internal audits to assess QMS effectiveness.
Facilitate external audits and certifications (e.g., ISO 9001).
4. Continuous Improvement:
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and
process efficiency.
Use tools like Six Sigma and Lean methodologies to drive improvements.
Analyze data to identify trends and areas for enhancement.
5. Training and Development:
Provide training and guidance to employees on quality-related matters and
assembly best practices & excellence.
Promote a culture of quality throughout the organization.
6. Supplier Quality Management:
Evaluate and manage supplier performance to ensure the quality of
incoming materials and components.
Collaborate with suppliers to address quality issues and implement
improvements.
7. Customer Interaction:
Serve as a point of contact for customer quality inquiries and concerns.
Work with customers to resolve quality-related issues and improve
customer satisfaction.
8. Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate quality records and documentation.
Generate quality reports and metrics for management and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, quality management).
Proven experience in quality management or a related role.
Strong knowledge of quality management principles, methodologies, and tools.
Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Certification in quality management (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Manager) is a plus.
